I'm Looking For A Personal Trainer...
With over 20 years of experience as a fitness and nutrition coach, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern among many gym trainers—especially those with a bodybuilding background. These trainers often assume that everyone, particularly those looking to lose weight, should follow a bodybuilding-style regimen: heavy weights, low reps, body-part splits, long cardio sessions, excessive protein, and pre-workout supplements.
However, if you ask the average gym-goer whether they want to look like a bodybuilder, most will say no. The majority of my clients—both men and women—simply want to lose fat, feel better, and be comfortable in their own skin. They’re not interested in breaking records or getting shredded.
When choosing a trainer or coach, make sure they provide a program tailored to your goals. A great coach will listen to your needs, then create a personalized fitness and nutrition plan that’s supportive and realistic. If a trainer gives you the same workout or diet they follow without considering your specific goals, that’s not true personal training. A good coach also leads by example, maintaining a healthy lifestyle themselves.
While bodybuilding-style training has its benefits, it’s not the most efficient approach for burning fat, building or maintaining lean muscle, or improving overall health—especially for those who don’t have bodybuilding goals.
If you’re looking for a qualified coach with proven results who truly has your best interests in mind, I’m here to help. Reach out today!
